The Role

We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Solution Engineer to join our team. If you thrive on solving complex problems, have a love for open-source projects, and excel in building strong client relationships, this role is perfect for you. You will work closely with our corporate clients to develop tailored solutions that align with the OpenProject roadmap.


Your Mission

  • Client relationship management: Foster and maintain strong relationships with key corporate clients.
  • Technical consulting: Serve as the primary technical consultant, understanding and addressing customer requirements.
  • Solution development: Create and implement tailored technical solutions that align with client needs and our product vision.
  • Client engagement: Regularly engage with clients to gather requirements, provide updates, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the product owner, UX/UI, and development teams to prioritize and develop solutions in alignment with the overall OpenProject roadmap.
  • Technical support: Answer technical questions from existing and potential customers, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Retention and growth: Maximize retention and Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) from corporate clients.
  • Product alignment: Ensure custom development aligns with the overall product vision.
  • Partnership building: Foster strong, long-term partnerships with key clients.


What You’ll Bring

  • Educational background: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field, with a preference for Computer Science.
  • Professional experience: Proven experience managing complex IT projects, especially within open-source environments.
  • Language skills: High proficiency in English and German; knowledge of French is a plus.
  • Technical expertise: Familiarity with OpenProject and its technological stack (Ruby/Rails, Angular).
  • Communication skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of translating technical details for diverse audiences.
  • Problem-Solving skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Consultancy skills: Ability to create demos and other materials to support solution implementation.
  • Team player: Dependable and proactive, with a collaborative approach to work.
